Getting into a career in sen

Hi all, I am citrently working in Early years, in a day nursery. I have been in childcare for 20 years. Due to my own circumstances recently I have become aware of the deficit in support for children with sen needs. This is something that I would like to move into but am unsure where to turn. For reference I do not hold a degree which limits my options some what.

Is anyone in this sector or have any information that could help me make this transition.

There is a new L5 SEN Specialist TA Apprenticeship. You could look if any of the Trusts near you are offering this.
Also there are funded Level 3 courses in SEN that you could do currently too. That would give you the qualification that you need to make the move.

Special schools are often in need of TAs. Just wait for one to come up and apply. One of my TAs is currently an education degree on the job and will then train to teach via the apprenticeship route.

Any primary TA job will involve a significant amount of SEN work. If you find working with SEN kids is something you're good at schools will have your arm off - even if you were originally recruited as a general class TA.
It's poorly paid but very rewarding. Round us there are lots of vacancies.
