Why have I had OSP deduction?

I have had a deduction on my pay entitled ‘payable OSP’. My googling had told me it is occupational sick pay but a) I haven’t been off sick but I did take an afternoon to take a child to a hospital appointment and b) if it’s sick pay why is it being deducted from my salary?

I have worked here since Dec and had one sick day, it was marked SSP on the payslip and was marked as a minus amount and then immediately below a plus amount. This one is only the minus from my salary.

Thanks!

You need to speak to your employer. It could just be a mistake, or it might be something else, but only they can tell you.

SSP is payable after 3 days so if you had 1 day sick it would be OSP rather than SSP - I wonder if that’s something to do with it.

Thanks both. The last one where I had one day off sick was marked SSP and didn’t actually deduct anything… I’ll just ask the HR person, didn’t want to go and ask and then it was something obvious! Thanks!
