Work related course

I’ve been looking into doing a work related degree (completely my idea).
So, rather than start at year 1, preferably I would like to do an access course which costs x plus vat so that I can go straight to year 2.
The access course doesn’t qualify for a student loan & they want the full payment up front.
I was thinking of asking my employer if they would pay & it then get deducted out of my net salary each month. I also think that if I were to do this it would cost me less as they would be able to reclaim the vat.
I just wanted to check there’s nothing wrong with doing this first.
Any advice would be great! Thank you ☺️

All you can do is ask. I think if you highlight the benefits to them they may even be interested in paying for the whole thing but you repay if you leave within two years (so more sponsoring than a loan). Good luck!

@ThirdStorm thank you. I did wonder this too but I wouldn’t expect it with all the added costs already this year.

Do you happen to know about the vat bit though, I thought at least this might save me something or would I need to repay the full amount including vat?

Bump…..

Just wondering if someone in accounts can help with this question please?

Obviously if it means still paying for the full course (inc vat) it’s still worth it to me if it means I could spread the cost.

I just thought the vat could be offset against sales. Don’t know if this is the case so only want to suggest what is strictly legit.
