Recording Teams Call

Any HR people around?

Just looking for some advice. A colleague of mine has voice recorded a Teams call between her and a senior HR manager (she is also in HR at team leader type level) and sent it to me in WhatsApp (my personal number). She recorded it on her personal mobile. This is not the first time.

I do know this is really wrong of her but I'm not really sure what to do. Speak up to my manager or just have a quiet word with her?

In the UK, you do not legally have to tell anyone you are recording them if the recording is for your personal use. It's a one party consent matters

However when you begin sharing it or using it that becomes a different matter.

It’s not personal use if it’s at work!

It can still be personal.

Personal Use, not a personal call.

But I still don't understand why she sent it to @letstrythatagain Confused
And if I was OP I'd delete immediately!

Recording a work related call on a personal device and sending it to someone else's personal device, sounds dodgy as hell. OP needs to cover herself, in case of shit hitting fan, by mentioning it to her line manager.

If it was a work call to discuss the employee's salary increase/PIP/ year end review... and they recorded the conversation for their own records, that would be personal use. If it was to take notes on what actions were required for a work meeting.... it was weird.

I'm not saying what employee did was right, I can't understand why she did it at all 🤨
