Mew job exhaustion - normal?

I started a new job on Monday. I can already tell it was a good move, everyone is lovely and I feel supported and happy. It’s in a department I want to be in and I can tell I’m going to enjoy the work. But I’m exhausted in a way I’ve never been before. Possibly down to learning new systems and a commute, did anyone else find they were exhausted when starting a new job and when did it begin to ease? I’m used to working full time as I did in my previous role but I don’t remember being this tired when I started

Yes, just like how kids are exhausted when they start school. Having to deal with everything being new and different is exhausting. Nothing comes automatically in the way it does when you're settled in a role. Congratulations on the new job!

I remember nodding off during some video training in my first week in one job. The room was warm and dimly lit and I could barely keep my eyes open. I never nod off in the daytime! So yes, normal!

Oh yes, definitely! Time goes so slowly at first and it’s so so tiring. I vaguely recall it gets a little easier after the first week and gradually gets easier from then on. It’s great that you like the people. So so important. Just take it easy at home, if you can and get plenty of early nights. You’ll soon feel back to normal.

Thanks for the replies. I have three kids ages 6-13 so the work doesn’t stop when get home! But I’m truly enjoying the work already and I’m looking forward to not feeling so exhausted by 3pm. Early nights are needed I think so off to bed now.
