I'm pretty sure your maternity starts the day after you have your baby. I work in a higher education facility and my first pay after having her in July was maternity pay PLUS holiday pay. Best to check with your employer xx

You can’t start maternity leave any later than the baby’s arrival , so if you are due in July that is the latest date. Therefore you will be on maternity pay for the summer break.

what if you have holidays left to use?

They get carried over.

MummytoE · 03/04/2025 21:53

Yeah I basically ended up with two lots of holidays to take at the end of my maternity

I'm not sure how annual leave works when you are TTO. Usually you get to take it when you come back to work from maternity leave, but holiday pay can be wrapped up as part of your salary.

Teachers cannot carry holiday over unfortunately.

I’m afraid your mat leave starts the day you have your baby or maybe the day after I can’t remember.
