Career advice please!

Hello!

I am 22 and currently having a slight existential crisis so I am hoping others with a bit more wisdom can help me please.

I am about to graduate with an educational psychology degree.

I have a place on a master's course to train to be an occupational therapist - which I think would be a very rewarding career; there are so many different areas and opportunities! Ideally I would like to specialise in pediatrics; I know it would take a long time to get to this point. ( I have gained work experience in OT and it really motivated me. I dont know if I am just scared now the time is nearly here )

HOWEVER...

something is making me further consider going into teaching

I have always thought about being a primary school teacher.. but I have been put off by many people's comments, the long hours, and the fact that the pay scale doesn't really progress.

But I am now considering just giving myself the option, and applying to do this in case I change my mind. BUT I am also thinking of applying to be an English teacher in a secondary school. I don't really know where that idea has come from.

Please can I have some advice?

It just seems like such a huge decision for the rest of my life

I just want to have a positive meaningful impact to others lives

thanks in advance

Once you have a degree you have a route into teaching at any time. My son is about to graduate and is aiming to teach at secondary school but is taking some time to work in other jobs first to gain some life experience and put a few years in age between him and the students too!
