compressed hours arrangement, can employer force you to alter working hours??

If you have an agreed compressed hours arrangement that forms part of your contract, can your employer force you to change your working arrangement for a particular project? Any advice welcome

Not if it’s contractual, no. They can ask and should consult with you to seek agreement. You don’t have to agree.

Thank you. in brief the backstory is that a colleague has been under a lot of pressure to do so, and there was an expectation by senior management. They have changed but only after feeling that they would be penalised if they hadn't.

I don't think that is quite right @Twatterati. I believe that there can be changes made to a contract in some circumstances. Op, give ACAS a call, they should be able to help.
