Civil Service Anonymised CV

I’m applying for a role in CS and they have asked for an anonymised CV. There is guidance on what to leave out, which is fine, but I’m a bit puzzled about job titles and employer names. Do I put them in? Im not by any means high profile in any industry, but it wouldn’t take long to find me in LI with my current job role.

Ive only worked in private sector before so this is new to me.

The there is evidence that recruiters have some bias when they see a name. So it's fine to leave in all your roles etc. It's really a safeguard they've put in to try and eliminate that prejudice around names...there are academic studies that show recruiters are more likely to choose familiar sounding names, or ones that 'fit a mould' most likely on an unconscious level, and so it's a legitimate concern for employers and can be an effective way to try and mitigate this phenomenon in shortlisting processes.

Thanks.

I suppose they get so many CVs they’re not going to bother going to look for me. It’s not like I’m the CEO of Tesco.

That’s not why they’re not going to look. They’re not going to look because it would be inappropriate. I’m a civil servant. We do not search for candidates online.

Job titles and employers are fine to include.

Thank you I appreciate the advice. The application process is so hard to navigate and very different to what I’m used to.
