Arrest Nfa (safeguarding) - can I get back to teaching?

I was arrested on the suspicion of neglecting my child. This was over 10years ago. I didn’t do anything, I suspect this was a malicious revenge complaint as I reported someone for benefit fraud. I was released and no further action was taken. I have since had 2 more children - no involvement with the police or child protection agencies or anyone.

I left teaching when I had my first child. I’d really like to return to teach. Will this arrest show on my enhanced DBS? I know everyone at the school and I’d be deeply embarrassed if this showed up.

I know I sound like a criminal, but I’ve not done anything wrong. Police said they had to arrest me for questioning due to the nature of the complaint.

If you weren't cautioned or charged or convicted, it won't show

There is no clear yes or no answer because it depends on the overall situation and the depth of the checks and the job, and what police believe may need to be revealed. Arrests do show up in some circumstances and a one off with no other soft data may not. They should look at each case individually.
