Need help with CV + cover letter

So I am desperate to get out of my current job, been in it a long time and haven’t had to write a CV or cover letter for years.

I've seen a job that would be perfect for me, with transferable skills.

I really want to get my CV and cover letter just right- can anyone point me to some good online resources that could help?

Many thanks

Chat gpt - I did an application on Friday by uploading the job then copy and pasting my cv and asked it to critique my CV and create a cover letter. took 10mins from start to finish.

AI can really help get started. Though I recently recruited for 6 new roles. It was very obvious where AI had been used. Lots of word soup and identical sentence structure so worth spending time going through what it spits out to personalise it your own writing style so you don't just blend into the (big) pile of people who have done the same thing.

Thanks that’s really helpful. I’ve never used ChatGPT before will need to work it out… although I would be worried about it being very obvious!
I’d say I am overqualified for this particular job if anything- it’s less money than I’m on but closer to home and an area I’m really interested in, I’m seeking better work life balance so want to make a good impression.

Give it a try and then edit it with your own ‘voice’.

I was writing my CV yesterday and I tried copilot out to see what it would give me. If you’re going to use it to assist you it’s quite helpful, if you’re going to take the approach of let’s get the AI to write it all job done your application won’t be the best. The “word soup” description is about right, and AI applications just come across a bit weird.
