9-day fortnight?

Does anyone do this? I am thinking of requesting it. We do 35 hour week so am I right that doing 8:30-5 with a 30 minute lunch would work out the correct hours (70 hours over 9 days?)

Yes I do this with every second Wednesday off. I work 8 til 4.30 with 45 mins for lunch. I really enjoy the working pattern - work is flexible that I can move my day off to another if needed.

I do this, with every other Monday off- I love it! My work is also flexible, I get so much done when I start earlier.

I do this too and it's fantastic. I have every other Friday off to keep down nursery fees. Husband does the same but with other Friday.

It's really common now in my workplace, so they have refused a few ppl who have asked for it in the last 6 months. So make sure it's written into your contract.

You can certainly request it. If you want a particular day off every other week you may be refused if it's one lots of people would like ie Friday. I was allowed to do it in the CS nearly 20 years ago because I wanted a Wednesday off which no-one else wanted and office was sufficiently covered by my colleagues. Also clients didn't object to waiting one more day to talk to me. Don't assume a right to it though.
