I've been a childminder for 25 years, since my eldest child was almost 2. I did computers in college & had always worked in admin type roles which I loved (bar working in a supermarket as a student) but when I couldn't get good childcare myself I ended up childminding to pay the bills.
Anyway, 25 years later & having turned 50 last month I've decided it's time to go back out to work before I get too old to try.
I've been doing some courses to update my cv & yesterday had my first job interview. It was nerve wracking but actually quite enjoyable. 2 ladies interviewing me were lovely & we had such a nice chat it ended up feeling like I'd met my friends for coffee.
I'm not expecting to get the first job I apply for & I also had to tell them I couldn't start til June as I've given the parents I work for plenty of notice to find childcare, so that probably won't suit them but it was a confidence boost even getting the interview & I'm viewing it as practise really.
Anyway I'm still smiling here this morning so had to tell someone ☺️
