Overqualified?

Hi I applied for a job at same level I’m currently at in another company due to redundancy. They’ve come back saying I’m overqualified!! Would you get back to them as they’ve left it open to go back to them. Would you tell them your situation to help explain why you’ve gone for the role. This recruiter helped me get my last position so I kind of know her. I tried to get a job a level up there a few months ago but didn’t get it!

I’d go back to them, but not to say it’s because of redundancy - that might make them think you don’t plan to stay long term. Instead I would focus on why you want the job!
