Bank holidays on a non-working day

Hi

I'm moving away from working Monday to Friday.

Can anyone tell me if you work full-time and your non working day falls on a bank holiday does this become part of the holiday balance or do you just miss out as it's your day off anyway?

From what I remember the employer said they are open on a bank holiday if that is any help. The contract doesn't expressly state what happens.

Thank you.

It would be added to the holiday allowance.

Your allowance for annual leave will include bank holidays. The hours you'd have worked will then be deducted from your annual leave.

So for example you work an 8 hour day usually. 8 hours will be secured from your annual leave for the bank holiday entitlement

So I work 3 days and my holiday is worked out as 3/5 of the full time holiday allowance and total BH in the year. It’s then rounded up to the nearest half day

if a BH falls on my working day then I have to take it as holiday. So I work Tues-Thurs and it is rare that enough BH fall on my working days such that I need to use more than the pro rata BH iyswim

You are entitled to 4.8 days leave on top of your annual leave allowance. They are not allowed to round it down, so you will get 5 days on top of your normal holiday allowance. Thr Breathe HR website above has a calculator allowing you to work out your allowance in hours or days.

As you work Tue-Thu you should get this as additional days/hours.
