When to progress?

I’m wondering if there is a right time to progress? I’m back at work part time after having my first child. I’ve always wanted to move up to a senior/specialist role. However, since working part time I’m constantly feeling like I’m behind on work or don’t have enough hours in the day to get the job done. I’m not missing targets as such and there are no performance issues but I am carrying out additional tasks in evenings/weekends to keep my head above water.

Ideally we would like to start trying for another child later this year and I understand that these things don’t always go to plan (we had back to back losses). So there’s a part of me thinking wait to see if we are fortunate to have second, or just go for it.

Lastly, those who have young children and find themself in senior roles, how do you manage?!

There's no right or wrong, you have to just see what feels right to you.

Some people choose never to go for promotion, others are very keen to do more.

What do you want to do?

Working extra hours doesn't sound good though, I wouldn't be happy about that. Perhaps a better organisation is the priority?
