Did you already work in an assistant post before wfh?

what qualifications did you have before starting?

I am currently looking to wfh and ideally wish to set up as a VA.

I have some administration skills which I’m considering updating on.

Would be great for some advice if anyone has already done this or about to.

I think it is probably as simple as starting. Perhaps put a notice on your local FB group to offer help with admin? You then send out an invoice at the end of every job, or every month if you are working on an ongoing basis.

You need to get insurance and do a self-assessment tax return at the end of the year. I think you will also need to register with the ICO if you are handling personal data. But none of that is too difficult.

Thank you for your reply @BadSkiingMum thats helpful.

Are you in this role or have been before?

Hoping to chat with other VAs too.

No, but I do work on a freelance basis.

In many ways you simply have to start. Just start small and see if it works for you? You can always stop if necessary.

There are several franchise options around but I would avoid getting sucked into one of these until you know that it suits you.

Worth looking at local business networking- chamber of commerce etc. be wary of bni. The groups which push for referrals.
