career change from buying

hello,
I am going to be returning to work soon after maternity leave and I cant get the flexibility I need to accomodate nursery drop off and pick ups, I also currently travel a lot for work which realistically wont work going forward and have a pretty big commute. I have enough time to start looking for something new but i've always done similar roles so unsure where to start!
I currently work in fashion buying, I've also worked in sourcing and product development, all within a textiles/fashion environment. This might be niche but has anyone left this line of work and gone into something new?

Yes and I couldn’t have done it having kids.

I did a huge career change and now work with women/families/babies. It’s so much more fulfilling and enjoyable. I remember once coming out of a meeting where we had discussed for about 30 minutes the shade of purple for a purse and I decided I wasn’t spending my life doing that!

oh that sounds perfect, what do you do now? do you mind me asking if you took a salary cut?
yeah the thought of being late to pick up my child because the buying director doesnt like a colour of something is making me twitch...!

I work in family and breastfeeding support. Yes a pay cut but my
mental health is so much better! Yeah I thought I don’t want to be spending the rest of my life around SS/AW reviews with directors over really quite ridiculous stuff that no one will give a monkeys about in years to come 🤣
And I simply can’t be flying off to China etc with kids. I have never regretted it. You could always look for a smaller local buying job - I once saw one for a garden centre/shop in Devon which if I’d lived there I would have applied for!
