Job advert substantially changed, already applied

Has anyone seen this? It’s a council job.

Im a bit annoyed, and I feel like I’ve probably wasted my time on the application. Basically I applied for the equivalent of a team member role, it’s now the team leader role and there’s an essential criteria added I don’t meet.

I thought I was going mad, but checking my emails the job was definitely advertised as one thing. It’s there in the email, but if I now click the link to see my application the job title is amended. So it’s looks like I’ve applied for this role, without answering a key criteria. The closing date has also changed.

That's pretty unprofessional of them. It may be that there was internal movement after the role was posted, necessitating a rethink... or internal squabbling ... or someone simply cocked up and posted the wrong file. Either way, it looks like a disorganised workplace.

If you're certain you don't want the role, you could ring up and pull your application. But it might not be a bad idea to go along for an interview if you're invited. It's a good chance to chat to them and make them aware of how you might be an asset to their team.

I think it’s lowered my chance for interview, I’ve now not addressed one of two listed essential criteria points in my application. It’s frustrating as I spent some time on it.
tbh I’m also in two minds… it’s a substantial extra for the same money

See what happens. Unless it would cause problems with your existing job, it would be worth attending an interview if you are offered one - interview experience is always valuable and would be a chance to find out more about the role.
