Flexible working on top of part time job

I have a part time- term time job. It works out to about 3 days per week on average. Sometimes 2 days per week and sometimes 5 days per week (during exams). Approx 16 weeks a year I’m working full time - especially May/June

I love my job and the fact that it’s term time is great so don’t want to leave - instead looking to find another job to top up the income. Ideally something I can pick up when I’m not working full time or evenings at home. Does anything like this exist??

What do you do and what special skills do you have?

They do exist but very competitive as so many people want them.

A bit of everything! Admin, manager, snr manager. School administrator, school governance, hr ect. I’m tech savvy but no real special skills other than that unfortunately

Minuting governors meetings or clerking them ... your LEA may have a bank for school admin supply staff

I actually have done this! Trust I worked for amalgamated the roles so they became full time roles across multiple schools which I didn’t want to do. To be honest the money wasn’t great for the hours you end up doing. But yes it can be a handy job!

That's the issue with a lot of these jobs sadly. Recently I tried to find something for some extra cash and looked at remote transcription, editing, proofreading, etc. There are SO many scam companies and the legit ones pay so little that it just isn't worth it. The exception is if you have a particular expertise like translation.

I tried pretty hard and ended up not finding a single thing. I wish I could give you some leads.

Could you join an admin type temping agency?

Proof reading? A colleague does this part time from home around his full time job. He did a 'course' of some sort, but I don't know the details. He proof reads for various companies, but also does a side-line in secondary and uni papers.

Thanks! Yes, that’s what I thought would be the problem

I did try and join some agencies but never heard back. I think it might be worth telling my current school that I’m available for extra admin work when they need it as I’m DBS checked already ect.

NHS admin bank?

After years of museum learning volunteering, I've just started a casual learning job in another museum, occasional shifts booked well in advance. Some will be doing family holiday activities (also weekend, BH with families and school groups in term time). So if you work in a school, that might suit maybe? The pay is poor tho.

I have a part-time office job 3 days a week and I freelance the rest of the time.

Do you have any skills that you could build on to set yourself up as a freelancer?

self-employed PA? dog walker? tutor? cleaner?

I’ve actually thought about carpet cleaning as my husband claims I’m obsessed and quite frankly I just love doing our carpets and I treated my self to a pretty professional one 😂
