Reducing hours after promotion

So, I returned off maternity leave 4 weeks ago I returned to a new position with the expectation that I work full time however I'm having regrets not with the job, I love it but I am from my 2 toddlers and it's killing me, I miss them!
I want to reduce to 3 days a week however I feel so cheeky asking and I'm afraid it might bite me in the ass.
Any advice greatly appreciated

Give it time, 4 weeks is nothing, presumably you have your child care in place for your ft hours. Why not reasses in 6 months ? see hiw you feel then ?

Well first off does it say anything in the contrcat you signed? are the open to this? what is they say not then what?

It's probably more realistic to see if they'd let you go down to a 4 day week, which would give you a three day weekend. It entirely depends on the demands of the new role and your employer's willingness to let you reduce your hours to support your family's needs.

it isn't cheeky to ask, and you will only know by asking. Let's face it, if they respond to your request by trying to engineer your departure, you'd have a very strong Tribunal case (and I very rarely say that!)

the other thing to bear in mind is that if you've only just come back from Maternity leave, you may be feeling this way as an immediate response and need to give yourself and the DC time to adapt. In other words, give it a bit of time before deciding whether to request pt, in case you feel differently in a few months.

Just be really careful about this, it works better in some roles than others. You'd need to make sure your employer adjusts your workload and when it's only 1 day they often don't!
I've seen too many people going to 4 days still expected to do the same amount of work for part time pay.

If you reduced your hours to three days pw, how do you see things working? Do you want a job share partner or are you expecting others to pick up the work?
