Long gaps between interview rounds

I'm in an interview process for a senior role at the moment and I've now had an update to say it will be another couple of weeks before I hear back to see if I've got through to the next round as they are still interviewing people (it spans international offices so logistically challenging plus it was half term). That means it will be over a month since I interviewed.

I'm a little worried that other candidates will be fresher in the hiring manager's mind by the time they decide.

I was just going to drop a short note to my HR contact reiterating my interest and 2-3 key skills that make me a great fit. Not sure there's much else I can do though? Any advice?

I would send the email and keep applying for other roles in the interim.

Long gaps aren’t that unusual due to scheduling everything in. If there is a further interview round to go then you will have opportunity then to refresh the hirer’s memory.

no harm in sending the follow up though

if you are keen on the role can you use the time to your advantage by doing extra research on the company and the role, eg talking to current staff

Thank you.

I think I've been quite lucky so far as it's not been more than a couple of weeks between rounds.

Was just a little worried that I'm one od the first to interview and those who interview a few weeks latee will stick in their minds more but I guess it comes down to who is the strongest candidate ultimately.

Will send the email.
