hey everyone
i wondered if i could get some advice
my actual job is department manager - i manage a small team and have to focus on growth of the department, our service offering for that particular department etc. (for example - if it was a marketing agency and i managed the social media team - and also thinking about strategic growth of the department and our service lines)
i dont want to be a social media team manager forever, which i have expressed.
they are short staffed and so suggest i do 50/50 - half manager half client lead (so creating and overseeing marketing campaigns, client workshops, comms, reports etc).
as it seemed like a step in the right direction to move out of social media i said ok, however the reality has been that rather than do 50:50 it's more like 100:100!
i've been offered no extra pay (client leads are paid more than managers) - i have as big a case load as the client leads who don't also manage a team, and there's been no talk of salary increase to reflect the new responsibilities (salary aside, it's unsustainable)
i've expressed i'd like an increase if doing a higher responsibility role, and told i'll be given kpis to hit first (even though i should just be more in line with the others, i do have prior experience in this)
and when i said the workload is high just didn't really get a solution - they won't let me move from manager as it's easier to keep me there
i think they're not thinking about that if i leave (which i am course becoming tempted to do) they'll have to replace me twice over - one manager one client lead
any advice here?
