Not heard back from 2nd stage interview

It was last Friday and they said I would hear mid-week. I felt like it went really well, very positive feedback during the interview. Do I send a follow up email asking about the outcome? I just want to know at this point!

It's past the date you were given so send one polite followup, thanking them for their time and reiterating your interest in the job.

If you don't hear back from that - assume you didn't get it and mentally move on.

Thanks, I've sent a polite followup but have heard nothing back. I appreciate this isn't unusual, but it doesn't feel great.

I would assume it’s a no but they’re planning to tell you that after the successful candidate has signed up. I may well be wrong- hope I am! But I’d be prepared for that outcome.

I still haven't heard back, so am assuming it's a no. It feels so rude - I had to get time off work, spent a few weeks preparing, travel in by train and organised childcare. Looking at their website it looks like it's gone to an internal candidate as a similar role is now available at a lower grade.

I'm assuming I shouldn't call/ email again?

It is rude, but it's unfortunately increasingly common for companies to ghost interviewees.

I don't think there's anything to be gained from contacting them again - decide for yourself that you didn't get it and mentally move on. If somehow things are just massively held up internally and they do want to hire you they won't forget to contact you.
