I have used my annual leave entitlement for this year in NHS but just wondering if i will get paid 'special leave' or 'emergency leave' as my child is in hospital and need to take time off to be with her. If so how long would it be paid for? Just wondering what my options are if i can get the time off paid?

In my trust in Scotland, we get a total of 4 weeks paid parental leave up to the age of 14, then a further 8 weeks unpaid. Not sure if all trusts are the same.

Special leave is paid and at managers discretion. We usually allow up to 10 days for a bereavement, child in hospital etc. After that you are entitled to unpaid parental leave
