Constant worry I’ll be sacked

I’ve always been an anxious person so a lot of this could be down to me but the last year or so I have overwhelming anxiety that I’ll be sacked. I bought a house last year so I’m wondering if that’s what triggered the increase in it because my thoughts tend to be if I get sacked I can’t pay for the house, I’ll lose the house and a load of money etc… you get the picture.

I cant really pin down why I think I’ll be sacked- I’ve had no performance issues raised with me and I work in local government so they’re quite quick to stick people on performance management plans if needed. We have had a recent restructure and I get the impression that the new senior manager doesn’t really like me so maybe that’s it.

I just feel constantly on edge and anxious, if I take annual leave I’m checking my work emails multiple times a day in case I’ve done something wrong (I’m a perfectionist and hate making mistakes). I’ve been with my team 5 years now and it can be rather cliquey and bitchy and it’s the kind of team where people would rather throw you under the bus to make themselves look better than pull together to help solve a problem which doesn’t help anxiety wise.

Part of me wonders if I should get a new job but I don’t want to give into my anxiety all the time otherwise I’ll be changing jobs all the time but equally I wonder if all my anxiety is a sign I’m not settled here and should move on?

Sounds like anxiety if there is no evidence for your worries, all appraisals okay? Don't give in to it, stay and improve, the worries just go where you go. CBT therapy helped me. Good luck op.
