Next steps from management

Hello

im wondering what my next steps should be as someone with management experience who doesn’t want to do management anymore?

for context, I was managing a team of around 25 people. Went on maternity leave and then marriage broke down and now a single parent. For that reason I decided to step down into an administrative position when I returned.

I’ve been with my company since I left school and worked my way up. I’m glad I stepped down and I wouldn’t be keen on management again just due to the grief and extra work/hours you put in for little reward.

i thought about HR roles but im not qualified in anything, nothing apart from GCSE’s. It would also mean taking another huge pay cut I assume.

has anyone been through similar and have any suggestions?

payroll was my initial idea but having looked into a lot of people seem to advice against this type of work so I’m feeling a bit stuck.

tia ladies.

With a background in management HR is a good call.

I know people have warned you off payroll but there are benefits because there is a monthly cycle making it easier for you to predict busy times. There is also pay and reward/pay policy which sits between payroll and HR.

Don’t want in HR if you don’t want lots of grief for little reward. By definition the most difficult issues end up there
