There are various levels of event management you can go major event level working for a conference producer or venue such as the NEC or lower level with an event company that does pop up events in places like shopping centres and a whole myriad inbetween.
A good route in can be via hotels conference and banqueting side.
Many people will want event management qualifications and H&S quals like IOSH.

I got into events after volunteering locally and doing a couple of short courses. It took time to build experience, but now I freelance and earn between $36 and $48 an hour depending on the type of event and client. I mix that with some part-time work for steady income. It’s very hands-on, so being organised and good at communication really helps.
