FTC change - secondment to mat leave

I’m currently on a fixed term contract to September to cover a secondment. The person who was on the secondment is now starting mat leave so will be away past September. How does this work with the current contract, would it change to an extended mat leave now or change in September?

You mean your contract? That's up to the employer. They may have other plans for the situation anyway.

Yes, they’ve informally asked me if I’ll stay on longer to cover the mat leave. I don’t plan to stay so just wondering what happens if they want to change the contract. I know I can just accept the new terms and conditions and leave anytime serving the required notice but just wondering.

Have they told you that it is being changed? TBH if you really have no intention of staying then it would be polite to tell them that you intend to leave when this term ends, so they can plan ahead. You never know when you might need them in the future. So not worth annoying them.
