CV writing post 60

I have been retired for a while and would quite like to apply for a part time job in a shop! Trouble is I haven't written a CV in years and have no idea where to start, what to include etc. I have tried to find templates online, but quickly become discouraged by what seems like an overwhelming task .

open a chat gpt account( free) and drop a job description in for the job you are interested and ask it to draft a cv for it for a 60 year old with x experience.

Think about a skills based CV. (Google for examples)
I had one that listed my skill categories with some detail on the front page then a list of jobs on the second page.
Start by looking at skills required by job description and mirror that in CV.
I found this type of CV very easy to tailor to different jobs and it meant if I had relevant experience 20 years ago it was still on the front page, employer didn't have to look to find it.
Another tip I had was to ask people (friends, old colleagues, people you do things with) to describe you in three words. Use the strong words that come out of that in your CV summary at the top of the page. (Mine were boring things like responsible and diligent but for the work I did that was exactly what was needed to catch employers eye)

Chat GPT is a good starter but then edit in your own words and ensure you highlight the skills a retail worker requires.

These days many CVs start with a paragraph about your skills so it’s a good opportunity to focus on what you can bring to retail there. Good luck!

Yes- agree with pp. use chat gpt as a starter but then make it yours.
