Hello

I'd love to hear from anyone who has successfully switched careers in their mid 30's or over without taking a huge paycut?

What did you do before, what did you move to, and how did you go about it?

I'm in the depths of despair in my current job and need to find something new so looking for some positive stories to motivate me and show that it is possible?!

TIA

I changed from being a freelance researcher and fundraiser at that age and became a secondary school teacher.

Realistically, you have to accept some loss of earnings and disruption if you make a big change.

I was back to earning the same in about 3 years and I'm certainly earning more now than I would have been if I stuck with the arts, plus more security and pension etc.

I made a spreadsheet for cash flow and had some savings and a supportive husband behind me.

I had a baby in the middle of it though which maybe wasn't the smartest! Don't do that!!
