Delay to tax return processing

I submitted my tax return online over a week ago now and it still hasn't been processed.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced a delay, as it was supposed to be processed in 72 hours? Hoping to just pay it and be done with the admin!

Do you mean it didn’t calculate what you owe, or it did and you paid it but the payment hasn’t registered?

I've received an email confirmation after submitting the calculations confirming the submission with a reference number. It then says, ‘HMRC will now process the tax return. It can take up to 72 hours before you can go to your online account and see confirmation that your tax return has been processed.’

It’s been much longer and still shows as ‘processing’ when I log on to my HMRC account.

You can still pay now.

They don't need to process it in order for you to pay it. If you're happy the calculation looks right, just pay it now?
