Sickness

I've been at my place for work for a while now. My attendance has always been brilliant and the managers know I work hard.

Unfortunately this year I've been off a few times with mental health and for surgery. I'm now sick again and anticipating to be off for a few days.

I'm scared I'm going to get in trouble for my absences.

You need to have a frank discussion with hr and explain the situation, you need to know how many sick days you can take, if there's any allowances, if they use the Bradford factor etc etc. It really depends on your company as to how they handle sick days. It's a scary talk to ask for but it's rarely as bad as imagined x

If you've had more than the "allowed" number of absences for your organisation then you may well trigger the first stage of sickness absence monitoring. You may be referred to occ health to investigate your medical history and fitness for work.
You could be given a timescale to improve your attendance and any further absences in that time could have consequences.
