I have been off sick from work for nearly six months as had a bad condition and ended up having major surgery. Have worked in current position for nearly three years and work part time. I have not received any card or flowers from work and it reinforces my fears that I don't fit in with the office people. This had upset me and made me think when I go back to keep my distance and avoid all other collections in future. AIBU?

Do your colleagues know you've been off because of surgery? Those sorts of things are kept confidential where I work, and you'd just be told that so-and-so will be away for a few months - and you've no idea whether it's bereavement/health/family crisis/sabbatical, unless the person chooses to share the information with you.

They all know as discussed it with them before I went off x
