Communication around interview… would this put you off

Very part time job, something I do across numerous venues in a role that involves compliance. Often 6-7 visits a years per venue plus additional work as and when if issues arise.

Applications are usually informal, not big businesses. I applied to a group that works with a few venues.

Emailed an application letter following a conversation inviting me to apply. No response or acknowledgment of receipt of the email, then 1.5 weeks later in touch to ask about availability for interview next week.

I responded promptly with availability for next week. It’s now nearly next week and no confirmation of time etc 4 days after my response.

I now have extra work opportunities I could fill next week with from causal contract cover from another professional I know.

I’m tempted to take the work and fill my week, when I said I was available, as they haven’t got back. Would others feel annoyed by these timeframes? For context in a job where issues can arise that need to be dealt with in 15 days legal time frames and communication needs to be good.

I’m in two minds, I’m not desperate for the work but it could be interesting and it’s not casual whereas most my work is.

Yes I'd take the other work, bird in the hand and all that. Serves them right if you're now not free when they took so long to get back to you.

I’d be fine if they said something like ‘thank you, I will confirm the availability of other panel members and get back to you as soon as possible’ or indicated if the dates were likely to be possible.
It’s the complete absence of any response that’s annoyed me. Not even a ‘thank you for your application’

Well… had an answer in a way. They didn’t reply for a week, until the window of my availability. Then said they had something come unfortunately unexpectedly and to email them ‘if I was still interested’ and they’d email an interview slot int he new year.
Clearly gone a bit cold to but it mildly
