How do you use Linkedin?

Hi
I've been on linkedin for a couple of years but not quite sure what it does/how it works/ who I should link with?

I'm currently managing a small CIC but open to moving jobs if it gets unsustainable or I want a change.

Any suggestions welcome and I'd love to hear how you use it and what you get from it.

Check out Jen Corcoran who runs incredibly helpful courses and insights into its uses and how to network.

I post about work related topics from time to time. Nothing massive but short reflections from my experience, often linked to something I've just read or listened to.
I also keep an eye on ex colleagues and their movement and take it as opportunities to keep in touch.

I follow people who post interesting things related to my field and get involved in their comments.

I'm actively job hunting right now so definitely cultivating my presence!

Kind of like FB but for work. So for keeping in touch, either with former colleagues or professional contacts made through work, commenting on or sharing posts, joining groups relevant to my industry and role. I am not job hunting at present but work for a small business so it is a useful window into the outside world. I have a few non-work friends on there and it is interesting to get a little peek into what happens in their industries too. I get a fair amount of recruiters contacting me to either headhunt or see if I'm recruiting, plus some sales contacts but its easy enough to ignore anything unwanted.
