Gutted

Applied for my dream job. Got an interview despite the experience actually being a little different - pleasant surprise.

Went through 3 rounds of interview including 2 presentations, meeting a bunch of the team, taking a day off work for meet the teams/presentations etc.

Got a rejection email this morning - because of my experience...

Just gutted - as they knew my experience from day 1 so not sure why they took me through so much of the process to then reject me based on something they knew early on.

(a) I would not place much stock in written feedback.
(b) They wouldn't have wasted their time interviewing you over 3 rounds if you weren't potentially appointable, but that doesn't mean that there weren't other candidates who had more experience, or did better at interview.

Sorry you didn't get the job, but you obviously performed really well, but in the worst case scenario your experience (or your inability to show transferabe skills) wasn't the best they had on offer. That's nothing to be ashamed about or disaapointed in. You had what it takes, just not this time. Pick yourself up, have drink and get back on the horse!
