Want to get into workplace training

Hi everyone

I currently work in HR and we have recently had external trainers in for EDI sessions. Speaking to the trainer they do different training (EDI, anti bullying, mediation, mentoring etc) and the idea of it and what they do day to day really appeals to me.

Just wondered if there was anyone here who did the move from in house HR to external trainers and the steps taken? Considering the CMI coaching and mentoring qualification but not sure if this is the best way to go about it.

Thank you in advance!

The EDI sector is oversaturated and corporations aren't investing in it as much, FYI. It might not be the right angle to take long-term.

However, you'd be able to move into a Learning & Development role pretty easily from HR, I'd expect. Look into CIPD quals for L&D as a start, and see if you can find opportunities in your current workplace to join a project or something to gain experience. They may even fund the qual!

Hi

Thank you for your response! Yes agree re the EDI angle, I think I’d like to look at going into more coaching/mentoring rather than EDI as as you said it’s saturated and many are moving away from that.

Good point about the L&D qualification I will look into it - thank you!!
