Setting up as a consultant solicitor

I am a solicitor in private practice (about 15 years PQE). For various reasons I haven't gone for partnership - I hate networking, and work part-time so I have time for my kids. I've recently been asked by a client to come and work for them directly, which is tempting - particularly because I think they will pay me quite a lot more than I'm on at the moment. I'm considering setting up as a consultant so that I can do other work too (the client doesn't need me full time, and I wouldn't want to be full time either). Has anyone done this and can you give me any advice?

Have you looked at Linklaters’ Re:link or A&O Peerpoint. There are others as well. Allow you to work via them on a consultancy basis. I am not a lawyer, but work in a law firm.
