Since joining a new company I regularly attend management meetings, but there's one senior manager who is just always right on everything. Never wrong. Any problem discussed it's like, "Why is this not being done?!" or an almost hysterical reaction based on how they think things are. Always critical, never constructive. A pain the arse. Can be dismissive and rude to other staff members, whether they're present or not, but that's fine as they were there since day one. I feel I can't have a constructive dialogue as I now get the impression they're never prepared to change their mind about anything or accept anyone else's point of view and anything I say will just set them off. Meetings would be way more productive if they weren't there. I haven't had a chance to discuss this properly with my line manager, plus I'm wary of repercussions.
What's the best way of dealing with this sort of personality?
