Cover supervisor jobs

Advice needed please. I'm looking to change direction in making a career for myself. I'm wanting to get into a school role. I've worked in care for many years in different roles and capacities. I've also been a support worker for a young adult with learning disabilities and autism. I'm thinking of doing cover supervisor as a way to get into a school environment. However I don't wish to do this on agency. I'd like to find a post that is within one school. There isn't anything available near me at the moment. I'm wondering if I took a different role in a school, even say a lunchtime supervisor role. Just to get me in a school setting (maybe this might lead to a better position over time). But if I later found a cover supervisor role would the experience of lunchtime supervisor in a school be helpful to my application? Or would this be detrimental to an application for a cover supervisor position? I'm thinking any experience within a school is surely beneficial? Is this position classed as school support staff? Thanks

Have you tried contacting private schools?

It might but only if you were good at it. Secondary school children don't t always give lunchtime staff the respect that they would give other staff members and it's difficult to handle as you would see seven hundred children a day for a short period. So you don't get to know them and so dealing with behaviour may not be easy.

I also think being a cover supervisor could be a difficult job for the money although it's becoming a more common role.

My DD's school has a number of them. At least it gives some consistency. Her form tutor is a CS and he is absolutely amazing.
