Flexible working being revoked

Hi,
I have been with my current employer for 6 years and since returning from maternity leave in 2021 I have worked a condensed working week doing 5 days over 4. This was an informal agreement that was never put in a contract but I have successfully been doing it for nearly 4 years. The setup has worked well for the business and myself and performance has not been impacted. There are now rumours that the company are going to revoke all flexible working due to an influx of new requests. I’m aware I should have had it added to my contract back in 2021 (lesson learnt!) but I didn’t and now I’m here worrying about a situation that potentially might not even happens. Would anyone know where I would stand & if I could potentially push back on this if they did decide to revoke given it’s been an informal arrangement since 2021? Thank you in advance for the advice.

Get a formal request in stating that you've been doing it on an informal basis for the last 4 years. They will have a difficult time declining.

If you've been doing it for 4 years without issue it becomes implied terms of your contract, even if not written down.

Do you have any evidence or the agreement, even an email about your return to work? This would help too.

Your performance and appraisals should speak for themselves that it's been working well for both you and the company.
