Invited to interview - have to do a presentation

I recently applied for a promotion and have just found out I have been shortlisted which is great, but I have to give a 10 minute presentation which I have never done before, infact I have previously declined interviews which included a presentation. I am already nervous and in panic mode, any strategies or words of wisdom?

You’ve only got 10 mins. That’s going to go very quickly. So I’d stick to the presentation brief - ie
”How I would support, lead and add value to a new project”
(Interviewing is part of my job BTW)

Regarding what you put in your most recent post : would you include these in the slides?
a summary of my experience that differs from my application
A friend suggested that she would approach this presentation by look setting out aims and objectives that I would achieve in post

I’d say No to these.
These are Qs if I wanted answers to I’d ask you during the interview.
So simply stick to what they’ve specifically asked you to present on. Don’t deviate from that - you’ll also be assessed on that, as well as content, timing, presentation skills

Also I wouldn’t include these

slide about leadership and a slide about the areas I would look after ie budget, risk etc and will talk about what I will do across these areas with some brief reference to previous roles

As I think they are more relevant to the role, not the presentation brief.

However, I think they’ll be useful interview prep as they may well come up as part of the interview after the presentation.
As I assume they’ll be asking you typical interview questions too?
