Would like a new job. Where do I start?

I've been doing my current job for 6 years. It's minimum wage but a 'vocation' (childcare). Starting to feel like it's increasingly difficult with my energy levels (I'm 51, loads of 2-4 year olds is exhausting!) and I'm quite good at it, but not excellent (I don't think that will improve much). Many people are a lot better than me, so I'm feeling like it's not really my skillset. I've lost my mojo over it to be honest and as I only do it for the fun/ interest/ challenge - not the money - I'm thinking about doing something else.

No idea where to start though at this late stage of my life. I probably have 15 years at least left to work. What would you be looking for in employing someone my age? I need to work part time as I do manage my health but would be challenging for me to work full time. My level of writing/ analysis is good. I worked for 9 years as a graduate in advertising, then some admin work (after I got ill) until I had kids. About 7 years ago I did some more admin in a nursery and then started working with children. I have a first class degree from Warwick uni (long time ago!).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

How about admin roles in a school/university, or a local council? I think these can often be part time, and your experience would be valued.

Is there anywhere specific to look for admin roles or basically just 'indeed'? Not looked for a job since Guardian jobs (hard copy!).

If you know the area you want to work, I'd start there - council/university websites and some school websites list vacancies. Some may make it to indeed but often they won't!

Make sure you're on any local Facebook groups for the areas you'd be able to work in, often in my area lots of admin type jobs end up on them!

Most things will be posted on Indeed. But it's worth looking on your local council jobs website as well and even possibly the NHS jobs website.

Local and county council websites for jobs in schools as admin. Same for admin jobs at the council. Nhs jobs for admin job. Local colleges and universities will advertise on their own websites too
