Im feeling a bit at the idea of it, as I'v really bonded with my DD (7.5 months), but I feel I need a bit of "me time" to be me and not just mummy so not going back is not an option. Anybody else going through this?

Firstly good luck. Okay so take it easy, have a re-orientation, catch up with what has happened, read relevant stuff. familiarise your self with all the phone no's/fax no's and other stuff ( i forgot all of this)

is your boss supportive?

have a talk to them that should LO be unwell etc you will need to go etc

It does feel odd going back, but you quickly get back into it.you will be surprised

Good luck, I went back after 10 months off 2 weeks ago , it's getting easier but but the first week was quite hard as (as well as missing my gorgeous little girl) it seemed that no allowance was made for the fact that I would need time to ease back in, hopefully this week will be easier. Although on the "me" side, as a high heels addict, it is nice to have an excuse get dressed up again (suits for work for me!)
Good luck I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

Are you working FT or PT?

I went back after 14m with dd1 and 6m with dd2.

I only work 2 days a week. I felt a bit wobbly for a few weeks but settled in quickly.

Good luck.

Glad its not just me, I have been off for 13 months (9 months Mat leave and then sick with anxiety/depression).

I was due to go back last week but managers have not yet found a "suitable" position for me as I have requested reduced hours. I want to return 2 days per week looking to gradually increase in a few months to 3 days and then in another few months back to 4 or 5 days (depending on lots of things, mainly my little ones being ok!!).

Now have another sick note for 4 weeks as GP is not happy for me to return until "suitable" position has been put in place. I am actually WANTING to go back to work, im really looking forward to getting back a little part of just being ME - am really scared of feeling like an outcast though {blush}

me too!!! I fininshed work, 29th June last year... DD is now 8months and a bit.

I'm sorting of looking forward to it, but dreading the need to be more organised, and the awful tired evenings

Hi

I went back 3 wks ago after 2 years off so the weeks running up to it, I felt all sorts of things - anxious, scared, looking forward to it, 'me' time, professional thinking, being able to have lunch/have wee on own etc!!
It really wasn't that bad to be fair but I think that was because I went back to same colleagues/team in same place &,to be honest, not much had changed, but I thought I'd go in there not knowing anything anymore & feel the real 'new' girl, but it wasn't like that at all.
Everyone was really welcoming too & were so keen to hear about DS & see pics.
I'm now doing 12hrs spread over 3 days & although it's abit manic dashing there & back, it's do-able.
Main thing I hated was first few weeks taking DS to nursery. He broke his heart when i left & that was really upsetting for me as I felt he thought I was abandoning him, & I felt so guilty. Dropped him off today however & no tears, just a kiss & a wave from the window.....feel so proud of him & less guilty of going back to work.
You'll be fine. It's the lead up to it & the first few days that are the worst.
Good luck

That's brilliant! The worst part is over now, the actual 'going back'.
Glad all went well for you
