Hi, if I request statutory parental leave do I have to tell them the specific reasons to justify it or because it is an entitlement can I just request it without going into details?
Thanks

I think you can just request it without providing a reason. Be aware that your employer can ask you to postpone it though, if your intended timescales will cause operational difficulties, so if you need to use it for something specific, it might be in your interests to tell them.

It seems available for a wide variety of reasons, even just spending more time with them, which is great isn't it.

You don't have to give a specific reason but the leave has to be taken to look after your child's welfare so you may wish to state this on your leave request and they can ask for a copy of your child's birth certificate.
