Dropping hours after baby?

I went back to work 3 months ago and dropped down from 5 days to 4 to spend more time with LO and work 33 hours. I'm struggling with managing a department with a different mindset than before (all I want to do is spend my days with LO) and bring away from them. I just don't care the same and end up working evenings to catch up on work. I'm debating dropping to 3 days which would mean taking a demotion and working along side people I manage now. really.not sure if this is the right thing to do though? Has anyone else done this? Also need help calculating salary change as I'm no worse off working less hours than before, maybe because I got a slight pay rise when I was off but makes you wonder!

I dropped to 3 days and did that for several years. But my role was not managerial and someone else covered the other days. I found 3 days gave me the perfect balance of keeping up my professional role but I actually had more days at home with children than at work.

Tbh I often caution people against 4 days. I've seen too many friends return on 4 days after mat leave to find they are just trying to do a full time job for part time pay. With 3 days the employer actually has to get someone to do the other part of the job.
