Hiring panel awkwardness?!

I'm presenting to a panel of 3 for an interview this week. One is the line manager but one of them will be the current person in the role (they're leaving).

The presentation requires me to say where I'd make improvements in the area that I'd be working in - which is what this person has been working on.

I'm assuming they get a say in who is hired so it's a bit of a balancing act. I guess I should just go for it and be diplomatically honest.

Any tips welcome!

I would look to the future environmental changes, changing external environment etc...rather than criticising the current status quo...identify opportunities and eliminate threats...the old PEST analysis Political, Environmental, Social, Technological advances.

Thank you but they've specifically asked for my current perceptions and there are things I'd change. 😬

I would mention everything I have identified. Most likely the person in the role knows what they would like to change - might be the same as you! They just have not had sufficient capacity to change those things.

The line manager would likely welcome a different perspective and if not then this is not the job for you.
