Hi guys,
I have an unconditional offer from MOJ but I have recently been informed that I have been sucessful within another CS dep (cabinet office) and they would like to offer me the role.
My start date for MOJ was next week...I was thinking is it possible for me to accept the cabinet office job offer, start working at MOJ to see if I like it, and if i dont i can quit and proceed with the cabinet office role? Is this possible?

Which job pays better and which department would you be more suited to?

Are the jobs at the same grade? And are they similar roles.
If so you should chose the one you are more interested in. Though if you are interested in prestige and being at the centre of things i think the cabinet office is more likely to give you that.
I don't think you can accept the MoJ job and keep the Cabinet Office waiting in case you don't like the MoJ. I think you need to make a decision which to go for
You can always try and change departments at some time in the future if you don't like your chosen department

Moj, everything is better there. I'm just worried if the grass is not greener at the other side if you know what I mean

check your MoJ contract for the notice period. It might just be one month. People have moved quickly on before in my civil service experience and staff were more understanding than I thought they would be despite the effort put into training them up.

I work in the civil service in a dept where a fortune is spent training us. I know people who are training whilst on reserve list for another department and from what I can see any movement between civil service departments seems fine.
