Experience with the ACAS / Employment Tribunal process??

I am considering taking my former employer to court over unfair dismissal.

I understand step 1 is to liaise with ACAS, and then if no joy on to an Employment Tribunal.

Has anyone been through this process? Is it fairly straightforward? Specifically I would like to know the timescales? Are we talking 6 months, a year, 2 years to complete?

I've been through the process. I had to follow the employee handbook first and go through the internal complaint process.

When it inevitably failed for me, I took them to tribunal. I had a solicitor so things went quicker as they took me more seriously and we ended up settling before it got to tribunal.

I think there's a backlog of cases but from what I know, it can be about 6-12 months and most settle before the case is heard.

@botanybabe123 what did you settle for out of interest? Was it more or less than a tribunal would offer? Did your employer admit liability or not? I’m in a similar position
